Futbol Lingo workshop Northumbria University
The Modern Foreign Language department took 19 year 9 pupils to take part in a fantastic and inspirational workshop focused on careers in Languages and Football.
It was divided into 3 parts:
· A motivational talk which included stories and experiences from around the globe, involving languages and football and to inform pupils about the importance of being able to speak them in this industry.
· A classroom workshop where pupils competed with other schools to convince judges to select their “country” to host the World Cup. Pupils had to describe the benefit of their chosen country in French, German and Spanish. One of the Kenton team came runner up, close behind a group of year 10 boys from the Royal Grammar School.
· A practical football session in which our pupils played football, while using key football phrases and terms in the target language.
Some of our pupils took part in video interviews with ITV news and B7 (video content company). They took this opportunity to talk and ask questions about filming, editing and producing videos to the different TV crews and even helped with the sound recording and quality assessing.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Bill Jordon CBE on 14 March 2025.
Bill was a wonderfully supportive Member at Northern Leaders Trust, who also spent a term as Interim Headteacher at Kenton School in 2022.
Bill was awarded a CBE for Services to Education in 2004, and his wisdom, experience, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him. We would like to thank Bill for his service and our heartfelt thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
And Bill, we will always remember your wise words and strive to live by them - "Keep on keeping on."

End Racism. Take Action.
Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination—a powerful reminder that racism has no place in our society and that we must actively challenge it.
At our school, we live by the values of Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Engaged. This means:
✅ Being kind—treating everyone with respect and challenging discrimination whenever we see it.
✅ Being safe—creating an environment where every student feels valued, heard, and protected.
✅ Being engaged—educating ourselves, speaking up, and leading by example to drive meaningful change.
Equality isn’t optional. It’s our responsibility. In school, in our communities, and beyond—let’s build a world where everyone truly belongs.

We instil a sense of community in our students, as well as a sense of belonging and compassion for those around them. We ensure that each student feels a part of our school and is active in the school community.
We foster a sense of aspiration and achievement in our students from their first day in Year 7. We support each individual throughout their time with us to both achieve and exceed their future goals.
We offer structure, support and opportunity for each student, irrespective of background or disadvantage and work hard to create an environment where every student is heard.
Through our broad and balanced curriculum and our pastoral care system, we equip our students with the necessary skills to be able to compete on a world-class stage.
