Why study this course? 

Biology is the study of living organisms and how these interact with each other and their environments. Biology is really a multidisciplinary subject that is made of many different and interdependent fields, covers a broad range of topics and has aspects to interest a wide range of students. It is a pre-requisite subject for many degrees in Biological Science and science-related fields of study. 

What interests should you have? 

An interest in the finer detail of how life works and interacts from the smallest cells to global relationships.

  • Paper 1: Written exam: 2 hours, 91 marks, 35% of A-Level, 
  • Paper 2: Written exam: 2 hours, 91 marks, 35% of A-Level, 
  • Paper 3: Written exam: 2 hours, 78 marks, 30% of A-Level 
What will the course cover? 

Biological molecules, cells, organisms and their behaviour, relationships and energy transfer between them, genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems and the control of gene expression.
