Why study this course? 

This is a course for people interested in cooking and learning new practical skills in food and could lead onto further catering or food qualifications. It requires no prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications in food and allows the learner to have a basic understanding of cooking methods and general healthy eating. However, this course is an entry level course and not suitable for students who have already successfully completed a level 1/2 food course in hospitality and catering. 

What interests should you have? 

You could have an interest in food, want to learn valuable life skills from healthy eating and learn to make some family favourites or take the first steps into a career in hospitality. 

How will you be assessed? 

This will be assessed through practical skills and a final written assessment. 

What will the course cover? 

This course gives an entry level qualification which could then be taken further to study a food-related course at an FE college.
